    What is a non-profit corporation?

A non-profit corporation is formed with the intent not to realize a profit, and is established for a religious, charitable, educational, literary, or scientific purpose.

Qualifying non-profit corporations will be granted tax-exempt status by both federal and state authorities.
What is tax exempt, 501 (c)3 status?

Non-profit organizations seek recognition as a 501 (c)3 tax-exempt status from the IRS because of the benefits it affords bpth the organization and its supporters. There are many tax-preferred provisions that Congress has created for qualifying organizations.

However, the IRS has established a number of restrictions and limitations that apply to non-profit organizations. Therefore, it is important for the organization, its directors, and all donors to be certain that the organization complies with all rules and regulations in order to obtain and maintain a non-profit, tax-exempt status, which is of great benefit to its donors.
